Russell Crowe to Play Country Singer in New Film

Jeff Bridges won an Oscar for doing it in Crazy Heart, and Gwyneth Paltrow will do it in Country Strong this December. Now it looks like Russell Crowe will be the next actor to play a down-and-out country singer. Director Phillip Noyce tells TheBoot.com he's cast Crowe in the film adaptation of the book, Dirt Music, and the actor will write and perform his own music in the film. Russell Crowe has led his own rock band, 30 Odd Foot of Grunts, for several years now.
